The Herald newspaper article about The Piecemakers.

July 9, 1998 newspaper artical which includes a photo of five of the Piecemakers quilters sitting with the 1998 quilt that they made and donated to the Akwesasne Freedom School Fundraiser Quilt Auction.

Artical and photo of five of the Piecemakers who created a quilt called "Symbols of Indigenous Peoples of the World."  Men and women of all ages and from various racial and ethnic groups worked together to show support for the AFS which teaches Mohawk students all of the subjects but within their own cultural context.  The students are taught to be proud of who they are. The creation of the quilt lets the students, teachers and parents at Akwesasne know that some people in the New Paltz area care about what is happening in the AFS. This was the first of many quilts that the Piecemakers would make for the school.
